Skive Museum of Art

Skive Museum of Art encompasses both art and cultural-historical exhibitions, a very popular Wunderkammer, and the Children's Museum Gadespejlet.

From Hosting a Combination of Archaeology, History, and Art, Skive Museum Launches a New Strategic Direction as of January 1, 2025, Becoming Skive Art Museum

A Clear Artistic Profile and Increased Relevance
The transition to a dedicated art museum allows for a more focused and cohesive presentation of the collection, placing art at the center. The first strategic steps toward Skive Art Museum’s new identity and alignment make it possible to offer exhibitions of national relevance and create greater recognition among museum visitors.

When the museum opens its doors as Skive Art Museum on January 17, 2025, guests can look forward to an art museum with two to three rotating exhibitions of national relevance. The museum will also explore new approaches to communication, where the artworks will come to life through clear narratives and immersive experiences for visitors.

Skive Museum's art collection includes works by renowned artists such as Ellen Hyllemose, Emilie Demant Hatt, Franciska Clausen, Asger Jorn, Per Arnoldi, and more. Going forward, Skive Art Museum will focus on strengthening its collection and developing clear artistic themes.

Skive Art Museum kicks off the year with the exhibition DREAM IMAGES by Carl-Henning Pedersen, featuring works that have never been exhibited before. This retrospective exhibition showcases early experimental works from the 1930s and follows their development through to the more serene compositions of the 2000s. Alongside Carl-Henning Pedersen's works, Skive Art Museum’s own collection of artists who were part of his circle will be displayed: Else Alfelt, Asger Jorn, Egill Jacobsen, Ejler Bille, and Henry Heerup. These artists will all be showcased in the museum's atrium, leading into DREAM IMAGES. The exhibition can be experienced from January 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM.

If you wish to book a guided tour for a group, you are more than welcome to contact the museum.
